Disappointed in my new Lance

Some of/or most of these things should have been caught by the dealer before you picked it up. The factory normally doesn't fire up the fridge, that is what they dealer is supposed to do for a PDI. It is called a Pre Delivery Inspection for a reason. They should go through the whole unit and correcting any things the factory missed. Now don't think for a minute that I don't think Lance should have missed the screws and latches and all of these items but that is also what the dealer is for. Did they give you a walk through and make sure everything worked to your satisfaction before you signed on the line buying this camper?

I do feel your pain when you give your hard earned money to them and then they could care less if they deliver you a good product or not. I think Lance is falling down on a lot of their quality checks that should be performed by the factory.

The thermocouple on my 2011 Lance 1050 would fire up the fridge the first time and after that is was turn it off and then turn it back on.

After diagnosing the problem myself, I had the option of driving to a Lance dealer 90 miles one way or a local RV service center for Norcold refrigerators. I bought the $12 part and fixed it myself. The local RV service center wanted me to leave the truck and TC while they diagnosed and ordered parts.

You shouldn't have to be dealing with a refer that doesn't work, but that is how some companies work.

The dealer did indeed give me a walk-through familiarization.

When setting it up for me, they discovered the fridge didn't work on propane, and ordered the parts.

It isn't their fault I live 250 miles away.

I should have left them out of this, because they did their job.

I regret saying otherwise.

The more I get to know this camper, though, the more apparent it is that it was put together by people who either took no pride in their work, weren't trained to do good work, or were not given adequate time to do good work.

Again, hopefully it is just little things. Why should I think that, though?

I have spent 10 years telling people that one pays a little more for a Lance, but it is money well-spent.

I never had a single problem attributable to Lance in my 10 years with the 1010.

The standard of attention to detail in this new one is not even in the same ballpark.

My fridge worked fine when I bought it ... but several weeks later, failed. Fortunately, we were in California, and we took it direct to Lance factory.

Lance replaced every component except the case,it seemed. Has never had a problem after that. About three years or so now.

You don't have that luxury, so far away. But I hope you get everything you need replaced, as it's not always so simple as one component. It's an interaction between all the controls.

CaptainEddie have you had issues with Princess craft? I do not work for them but have been down there 3 times to look at some campers. DW and I are planning to upgrade next January. closest TC dealer near Dallas, texas.

Although I like Lance campers, just purchased a 1998 990 legend for this calendar year. I do not think I will be looking at the new ones next year. Best of luck with new lance and hope you are problem free after this issue.

I just sold my 2012 850 to upgrade to a 1050S. My 850 was very solid for the short time I had it although I did have the same issues as you when I first got it. My entry door to the camper never shut right, in fact you had to slam it for it to close completely. I had to remove the striker plate and drill new mounting holes to get it to align properly. It closed perfectly after that. The cabinet door latch under the sink was not align right and you could hear the door rattling from inside the truck cab as you drove down the road. Fixed that. One of the trim edges came loose on a cabinet. Glued it back on. The wallpaper accent in the kitchen area would start peeling off when it was warm. But that's about it. Only minor problems, but they should not exist in a camper with the type of price they are asking. It was a great little camper and that is why I am buying another. Also I am close to the factory and my Lance dealer is really great to work with. There must be a high employee turn over rate in the RV industry because people get good and bad units from the same manufacturer. Possibly having to retrain factory workers over and over again?

Had a similar experience with my brand and my dealer has been awesome working out the warranty issued……one last trip my third and I should be ready for the camping season. In my case is was a lot of the accessories that had the faults and should have been found at the factory…..I also drive long distance to get my fixes…..but have found some great camping areas I want to explore and that puts the dealer in between.
