I was just contacted by Jay at Torklift and yes they have great customer service. He is very willing to address any issues a guy may have. I will try and explain what he told me.
The handles were changed due to complaints with the hole in the old school handle being hard to use with gloves on and with arthritis and ........ He agrees that the pictures need to be changed and will be changed in the near future so that a guy gets what he orders.
He explained the sloppy tubes and the twisting effect of the flag type ends very clear and in the future they plan on having a explanation on their website. In short they are designed to twist a little so the four corners of the tube make full contact inside the larger tube for more strength. If pulled straight only the outer edge of the flat side of the tube would be taking the load. Payoff is a rattling tube when the camper is off but pull the pin and they go away.
The finish is kinda **** happens in shipping but he of course will re-coat or replace it it's bad enough to warrant it. I suggested cardboard packing rather than paper wrapping but hey things probably don't get as beat up in shipping to the lower 48 like they do to Alaska.
The washers pulling down through the holes doesn't seem to concern him as they have thousands of them on the road but it concerns me so I am going to fix it. He of course offered to have a dealer do it but I can whip it out quicker in my shop.
Once again I was not dissatisfied just dissapointed that the handles were not what I was expecting. Would be like ordering a new set of round driving lights and receiving a set of square ones. Both put out the same light but look very different.
Yeah another satisfied Torklift customer here. Just thought I would share my observations as I am sure others have opened the box and went Huh?
