The lug nuts were probably loosened by the vibration from the tires.... Not sure about the loose caliper bolts as they were on the rear?. Are those tires OK? They likely hit the same potholes? You made it a long time on damaged tires... I guess this could be seen as a downside or an upside to LTs, depending on your point of view. They hang together a long time even when hurt.
