Had a front wheel come off a Chevy Blazer on I-94 a few hundred miles from home. We had recently bought it from in-laws. Cruising along at 70mph with traffic when the vibration started. Went from normal to serious in about 3 seconds. I stopped as quickly as I could without causing an accident, but it wasn't fast enough. Lost the wheel at about 30mph and rode the brake rotor to the shoulder. Luckily the wheel careened off into a field, rather than the median and oncoming traffic. Could have been ugly.
In retrospect, I should have taken it as an omen. That was the first and least expensive of the problems we had with that thing...
