- tshirtmanExplorerForgot to mention the dealer is in California and the sales tax rate is 2% more there than where I live. The dealer is also 200+ miles away so I would not consider driving that far without a deal in hand.
Compensation for the distance traveled and increased sales tax? Would they issue a travel permit to get home and pay tax in my state?
thx to all - myredracerExplorer IITry what DW, an accountant, would do. If they won't seem to budge any further, try them on for size for some upgrades and extras. Think of anything you will need like say a good WDH, brake controller, BBQ, etc. If they sell accessories and parts, see what they have you'd like. If they won't go for it, get up and say you'll think about it and get back to them and leave.
- RollandBExplorerWe are looking at some new rigs right now, my local dealer has some 2015 models all about 30% off. They dont have a floor plan we would like and gave me a figure for one which is a 2016 model at 18% off MSRP.. For our current rig, he has offered a decent trade value.
- SprinklerManExplorerIts getting to the end of the summer , dealers dont want to pay for trailers sitting on the lot . Now is the time to test your negotiation skills . Its your money how much of it do you want to leave your wallet . Insult them , thats your job .
When i bought my wife a car , I told the guy right off , the number I offer you is the number I write on the check . - skripoExplorerI heard from an ex trailer salesman that they mark up 2X. Assume 50% off is their cost and go from there. As many said, the problem is knowing what the real MSRP is.
Luckily in Quebec, most dealers post their prices on line so you can get a fair idea of the average price. - Need-A-VacationExplorerAs a comparison, we got just short of 32% off msrp on a '16 before tax, title, & plate.
The '15 we consider was at 33.83% off before any haggling on price.
We live in Mi so a lot closer for the delivery drivers though.
Good luck!!! - APTExplorerOffer 40% off and see where it leads.
- B_O__PlentyExplorer II30-35% off is possible with some negotiation. Forget about about buying a hitch or getting store credit. You can save about 40% or so buying your hitch and accessories online. You should not have to pay for a PDI and don't waste any money on paint sealants or extended service contracts...These are all VERY high profit items for the dealer with little to no benefit to you.

What should I offer for a 2015 new trailer. The dealer has it at about 30% off now . How much more is reasonable to ask off?
How about store credit or hitch work? How much?
Thank you
You are asking the wrong people.ask the dealer for what ever you want,he won't be shy telling you yes or no.And there is no such thing as an MSRP,it is what ever the dealer or manufacture wants it to be.It is just another sales tool to make you feel good about the deal you think you got.
Almost every manufacturer now has a Manufactured Suggested Retail Price which is indeed set by the manufacturer. In fact, with Forest River the dealer can't even add prep to the form.
The problem with the OP's question is that it is so general you have to assume that ALL manufacturers use the same % markup to get their MSRP and since we don't know that, the question about how much off is honestly not very relevant. 30% off may be an incredible buy on one brand and average buy on another. - mtofell1Explorer30% is pretty good. I see a A LOT of variation in prices depending on geographical location. Get onto RV Trader or RVT.com and get an idea what is standard for that brand in your area.
