My story on Discount tire.
We were traveling out of state, at slow speed managed to hit an exposed water main cap in the street. Blew out one tire, big bulge in the other, friday night. hum....... Called my discount tire store, explained what happened. They said give us 30 minutes to see what we can find. Called back. No local tire dealer had the exact tire, no local discount tire. So two options
1) we can air ship a set of tire to a local dealer for installation monday all at our expense
2) you can buy two new tires, have them installed, and we will exchange them and pay you for them when you return. These were Z rated tires.
I choose option 2 since I had to leave sunday. Went down, bought two new tires, had them installed, took pictures of the old tires. No way to take the old tires with me. Called discount, set up an appointment for when we got back, told them how much the tires were.
Got back home, drove in to the discount tire store, they had a check waiting for me and replaced my tires on the road hazard for free. Never asked to see even pictures of the old tires just wanted a copy of the reciept for the tires I bought.
Second story:
Son ended up with my old truck. Even though it had changed owners they honored the road hazard when a bolt went through a almost worn out tire. In addition they gave him the warranty mileage credit on the other 3 tires. I believe the road hazard and tread mileage are for the original purchaser only, but since it staid in the family they said, no issues.
I've seldom get the mileage warrantied on tires, but with discount I get credit for the mileage warranty and the replacement tire doesn't need to be the same brand.
