Dish Satellite and TV brand

Hello to all,

Need your help!

I'm in the process of purchasing an additional 24" led tv/dvd/12volt for the bedroom. Made a mistake buying one from Amazon - Axess brand to find out that we could not program Dish's remote control. Axess does not have codes available. I even call them and they acknowledge no code available. So, TV was returned to Amazon and money refunded.

Now, I'm looking for a TV that is compatible with Dish and is 24" tv/dvd 12 volts.

BTW, tried to purchase the same brand that came with the camper (Jensen 24" w/dvd 12 volts) and they are not available for some reason. I dont particularly care about brand as long the price is reasonable and the product is reliable. After reading countless net posting, I noticed that a lot of the off brand supposedly do not have remote codes.

What brand TVs do you guys have that are 12 volt and can work the Dish remote channel and volume? On the Axess I could work the channels but not the volume. I'm trying very hard to only have one remote. I would even settle for a unit that does not have dvd but can work Dish both volume and channel.

    We canceled our DishTV some time ago. But I remember the service guy showing me how to program in the television without using codes. By pushing a sequence of buttons on the remote, the remote would somehow recognize the television. I do know, if you call DishTV, (if you can get through) they will probably be able to instruct you how to do this. I remember it was pretty simple, but you just had to know the sequence of buttons to push in order. We had a television that did not have codes either. It worked. Unfortunately, we were so angry at DishTV when we canceled them, I chucked all my paper work and manuals where I had that written down.

    Why inmheck you you limit yourself to only crappy 12 volt TVs? Most all smaller TVs have a transformer to drop from 120VAC to 12 volrs DC. So, go pick a TV in size and picture quality you like the best, take it home and connect away. BTW why 12 volt? Your dish receiver will need 120 volts anyhow.

    Little off topic here: We purchased a new television for the TT living room just last week. Got it at Best Buy. I asked the "kid" about the power supply, because the demo model had the DC power brick. He looked at me like a deer caught in the headlights. He admitted he didn't even know the newer televisions ran on DC 12 volt (actually my new one is 11.5) He made the comment, "So THAT is what that square thing is for on the power cord!" Image that!

    Television works great in the camper. Very light weight, good strong, nice sharp picture, good sound, and pulls in all kinds of nice over-the-air television stations. It works a little funky with our radio-CD player in the camper, but once we got it figured out, it works just fine now.

    And yup young fellow! "THAT" is what that square thing is for on the power cord!

    The actual model of my TV won't do you much good since it's a 3+ year old Best Buy "Insignia" branded set that I'm sure they don't make anymore. But my suggestion is to just go to Best Buy and find a 24" set that uses an external power supply. That's all I did. Works great with the Dish remote.

    You make an excellent point. Still need a 24" due to space limitation.

    I'm aware of the brick transformer but not all small unit have them. And my biggest issue is getting the remote programed. I spent 1.5 hrs with Dish and we could not get the Axess remote programmed. It lack the codes.

    Did you ask Dish if they have a list of brands that they have codes for? That is where I would start and then I would go find one of those brands with an external power supply and....profit.

    You can almost always find a code that will work. I know zdirect has some genearic codes that will work. With the newer ewuipment it should have the ability to auto find the TV and then program itself.

    I too bought the Axis tv and you're right about the codes. Got that straight from Axis. My solution with Dish was to use one receiver for the main tv. From the Dish box the HDMI output goes to a HDMI wireless transmitter that sends the signal to the wireless receiver in the bedroom that the Axis TV is hooked to via a HDMI cable. From the HDMI transmitter the main TV is connected by a HDMI cable. The HDMI transmitter can be operated by the Dish remote. Problem solved and only one Dish receiver is used. Downside is that only one channel can be watched at a time.

    I have two receivers (Wallys). Bases on the feed back, looks like I need to just buy a premium brand tv and pony up the extra cost. And forget about 12 volts and internal dvd...not the end of the world...lol
