Dish Satellite and TV brand

We canceled our DishTV some time ago. But I remember the service guy showing me how to program in the television without using codes. By pushing a sequence of buttons on the remote, the remote would somehow recognize the television. I do know, if you call DishTV, (if you can get through) they will probably be able to instruct you how to do this. I remember it was pretty simple, but you just had to know the sequence of buttons to push in order. We had a television that did not have codes either. It worked. Unfortunately, we were so angry at DishTV when we canceled them, I chucked all my paper work and manuals where I had that written down.
