I see no reason why it won't work... I suppose a test at home to confirm this would be the thing to do. You may realize, that little amount of propane won't last long if you run other stuff like the furnace and stove off of it.
I routinely take 4 extra 30# tanks with us for our cold weather trips. We tend to be far away from a propane source, so we gotta bring it along.
