We made a similar trip in 2011 with an '03 F-250 5.4l. Pretty sure your truck weighs less and has more hp. We also skipped CO (been there). Our 25' Terry also weighed a little over 6000lb. We were slow on some passes, successfully maintained 50mph on all of them. We stick to the interstates for interstate travel because we know the pulls might be longer but the grade is predictable. I'd carefully research those "back roads" as to grade and switchbacks. I thought the Siskiyou pass on I5 at the CA/OR border and Cabbage Hill on I84 in Or were the longest.
