Something I have not seen mentioned in this thread (maybe I missed it) is that a DRW truck will have significantly improved roll stiffness than a SRW. 19.5 inch wheels, airbags, antisway bars etc. cannot change this fact - it is simply physics: the rear track is about 25% wider.
Wrong - the mounting point (pivot point) for frame to axle is the same for the SRW & DRW.
Now as far as resistance to side wind, etc., the DRW will fair better than the SRW. The SRW will "squirm" more with strong side winds. I have driven both SRW & DRW with identical Lance 1030 campers. Very little difference.
Well, to be pedantic about it: the roll center is the same, the suspension roll stiffness may be the same, but the weight transfer and tire roll stiffness is different by the track difference. The result is that the outside rear tire will see less load in a crosswind or a corner on the DRW than on the SRW. At the same tire pressures there will be less body lean due to tire distortion. The slip angles will be less. In a straight line with no cross wind of course there is no difference.
I have driven a DRW and SRW with the same camper. Major difference IMO. It's a pretty easy experiment to do: pull the outside wheels on your dually, drive around for awhile, see if you like it. Then put only the outside wheels on and see if you like it better. The only difference is track.
