I don't see why it sould have failed unless the trailer moved. That being said I just use 2- 4x4's that are screwed together by a piece of plywood on the top of them that gives a flat support for the bottom of the jack. I then just throw it in the back of my pickup while traveling. Been using it for years and it's on it third trailer now.
