On my F350 I hooked up the high idle option on one of uplifter switches and idled it only when I had to defrost the widows. Did realize how noisy idling is until you do it at the campground and everyone gives you that really look. Those 6.0's are not quietest at srart up. My 3600 seems more tolerant to cold weather.
