Great topic. We frankly don't cook that much. I know its odd but we just don't do it. Having said that the only floorplans we really liked all came with outdoor kitchens.
The unit we choose has a small outdoor kitchen space. Tiny fridge, tiny sink, a counter that pulls out, and a shelf, nothing fancy at all.
But boy has that little thing come in handy!
Since it's pretty basic we store our director chairs on the counter while they are not in use, keep some extra drinks in the fridge. Store our marshmallow sticks and etcetera out there.
When I do cook on the fire or the bumper mount grill the counter space makes a great prep space. If we need to nuke something we use the one inside.
All in all I ended up using it 1,000% more than I thought I would and I would not be without it.
