- GulfcoastExplorerI repeat, no half ton towing for me.
- valhalla360NavigatorMassive overkill. No harm but also not much difference. Both 3/4 & 1 ton will ride harsh and a 1/2 ton can easily handle that trailer.
- GulfcoastExplorerAbout any truck will get a 6000# travel trailer rolling down the road, but not every truck will keep it in control in an emergency situation.

You couldn't pay me to buy a Dodge. Shop GM or Ford.
A very bold statement. But quite the contrary for me. I gave up my dad's GM employee discount and my uncle's Ford A/Z discount after I test drove all 3 brands. Similarly equipped, the 3/4 ton Ram was the most polished on the inside. I did get the 6.4 gasser as I wasn't looking for 900 ft lbs of torque to move my 7500 lb pull behind. If I did want a diesel, it would have been the Cummins/Aisin combo over the Duramax/Allison pairing. Ford wouldn't have even been a consideration. How's that for a brand war?
As far as pulling anything less than 10,000 lbs GVWR, any modern 3/4 ton truck will be more than adequate. The biggest drawback to a Diesel power plant is that it eats away at precious payload. If you have a heavy tongue weighted trailer and want to fill your bed with toys, fire wood, an auxiliary fuel tank, or extended fresh water bladder, you'll have to respect the numbers with the 3/4 ton varient.
If you want the freedom to take the kitchen sink and some to your camping destinations, a DRW 1 ton is calling your name. - ScottGNomad

Ah, another hater. I could bring up as many people who would say just the oposite.
OP, it's kinda like politics; you have to ignore the extremists on all sides because the truth is generally someplace closer to the middle. - itguy08ExplorerYou couldn't pay me to buy a Dodge. Shop GM or Ford.

I'm getting a 5.9 Cummins diesel, will decide on the 2500 or the 3500.
In the 5.9 era of trucks, the 2500 and 3500 will ride exactly the same.
Enjoy! - DinTulsaExplorerMight as well get the 3500, you might upgrade trailers in the future.

Tongue weight specs say 718
UVW - 6200
Gvwr - 7700
No 1/2 ton for me.
A properly equipped 1/2 ton will have no issues with that trailer. If not almost any 3/4 ton will do.
