I now have a 2012 Ram that I purchased a year ago. Its already had the recall done on the tie rod. Im thinking of doing a full upgrade on it also...mostly the steering linkage first then ball joints once they go.
I received the recall notice and took my truck down to the dealership. All they did for me was enter it into the system and said it be "A WHILE" before they get any parts in. I got the same story from another dealership in my area also. The possible consequences of tie rod letting go is certainly on my mind while rolling down the road! I still have rather low miles on my truck and hope that's in my favor at the moment.
Correct me if I am wrong...but what is the likelyhood of a tie rod failure?
I believe you will have "loose steering"...but failure?
Is that likely?

Chrysler's recall notice states: "The left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning."
That was enough to make me nervous!
