Eleven years and 123000 miles later we still have the Camry and it runs great.
Other than oil changes, I bought tires, brakes and a battery. It has the original exhaust system.
We bought a new Camry in 2003 also and didn't get extended warranty. We drove it 160,000 in 10 years and sold it to our daughter-in-law, who has worn out a set of Michelins since then, so I'm guessing it now has 200,000+. Only problem we had was one back door lock.
In 2010, we bought a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with about 25,000 miles on it. Since the factory warranty was about to expire, we opted for their extended warranty. I forget what it was called, but it was through Chrysler. That van developed a miss that didn't show up as a code on the computer. The dealer's service department started guessing what it was and wanted me to buy new plugs and plug wires at 40,000 miles. Warranty wouldn't cover, since this is "normal maintenance". We now have a Toyota Sienna, and no it doesn't have the extended warranty. I did, however buy an extended warranty on my truck. Since I'm hoping to go on very long trips with it, I thought it might be a good idea.
