The new vehicles have a ton of sensitive and expensive electronics on them. If I planned on keeping the truck for a long time, I would drop that money. We bought the extended warranty (7yr/75K mile) for the wifes Camry. After her original warranty expired, her radio died. I could have replaced with an aftermarket for $150 or so, but she liked the built in Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. A new radio from Toyota was over $2000. We paid less than $1000 for the warranty, so we came out ahead with just the one radio replacement.
I bought an extended warranty for the Tundra too. It includes towing to a Toyota authorized repair shop, hotel costs if on the road as well as $0 deductible repairs for 8 yrs/75K miles. When I figured the cost of AAA coverage for 8 years versus the cost of the bumper to bumper warranty for 8 years, it was pretty close to the same cost.
