Yeah, I plan to keep the vehicle until around 200k miles. Should be around 8 years.
Maintenance does NOT have to be done at dealer, but they advise you to keep records and/or receipts just in case maintenance is in question.
I truly believe Chrysler's overall reliability has improved, but not sure it is on par with Toyota's. Though I think Toyotas reliability has gone slightly down lately. Having said that, if I had bought a Highlander (which we almost did) I doubt I would consider extended warranty.
The MSRP or whatever of this warranty is around $4k. The cheapest I have currently found is the one I mentioned earlier. It is slightly less than $2300 but I don't remember what is was offhand. It is online from a dealer in MI. Seems to be the cheapest online. I didn't even ask my local dealer that I bought the Durango from. I'm sure they won't be close. They tried selling me a 3rd party warranty for a stupid amount. This is a manufacturer B2B lifetime warranty, so I don't expect to get it for $1000.
Anyway, it can be purchased on a new vehicle anytime up til 4 yrs 48k miles, though they add a $300 or $400 fee after the first 12 mo 12k miles. So I have some time to research this.
