That's the truth. A guy can almost get an early 4th gen 6.7 with the same miles as a lower mile beloved 5.9. 3rd gen early 6.7s can be had a bit cheaper than an apples to apples 06-07 5.9.
If I was in the need for a used Dodge diesel in this re tarded market and only had $30k or less to spend, I'd go lowest mile 6.7 I could find and plan on deleting if I needed or wanted to.
Got my 5.9 back before many of the 6.7s were out, in mid 2008, so price was low and the dpf issues hadn't hit the fan yet. If it had been the same truck but an 07.5 or 08 I would have still bought it. I'm sure it would be deleted by now though.
I haven't even cut the cat off mine yet. Not sure how it's still working with the wheelbarrows of soot gone thru it!
