They are trying to low ball me on my trade.... Urg...
Before I purchased my truck locally I contacted Dave Smith in Kellog Idaho and over the phone got a price on what I wanted and approximately what the trade would be worth. Obviously if I brought my trade and it was not as I represented they could rework the trade in numbers. Then I went to the local dealer and told them what I could do in Idaho and how close they would come to meeting it. We were $300 off and that was OK since it would cost me that much to go to Idaho and get that truck. For my business the dealer sweetened the pot a little as I also walked out of the dealership with free oil changes for 100,000 miles (every 5000 miles) and an extended warranty.
Let the dealer know what you can get what you want for somewhere else. It cuts through a lot of the cr@p to start with a number and let them see if they can make it work. If not, move on. If so, buy it!
Add me to the growing list of those here that suggest the 850 Cummins 3500 with the Aisin medium truck transmission. It is a great product with plenty of payload available. You will love the exhaust brake.
