clearly you were mistaken. Cummings said they don't have problems; period. what you saw was a figment of your imagination.
What drew my attention to the truck to begin with was all the rust on the frame. In Dodges defense it was a plow truck, really shouldn't matter though.
I can get anyone pictures if they'd like of Fords with rusted frames and underside cabs and they are not plow trucks. My experience with the IFS in the GM's is they pretty stout. The only problem I see is the torsion bars have to adjusted to keep the front end off the bump stops and hub bearings.
I have replaced the ball joints on all of the brands.
