As a former Surveyor owner, I agree. And I've towed a LOT of trailers.
The things that will increase stability are a lower center of gravity, centralized tanks and heavy appliances (as opposed to lots of weight at the extremities), and axle positioning. If the weight is rear biased and the axles positioned rearward to achieve proper tongue weight, it improves handling. That's why boats tow well. Independent suspension helps too.
