Not concerned about Mileage.
I'm looking for a new to me Travel trailer (2010 or newer). I plan to use my 2014 F150 as a TV. It's specs are 1400# payload, CC, 4wd, EB 3.5, integrated brakes and 6.5'bed.
Only one kid still at home for a couple of years, so don't plan on a bunkhouse just a fold out or convertible table for a 6' kid. Travel 3-5 times a year 100-300 miles and once every 4-5 years cross country trips.
I'm looking to stay around 5500# and 28'. I've seen a couple of local used models that are lower profile and more aerodynamic (Cougar X-Lite and a Keystone Vantage). Their dry weights are 6200-6300#'s. Should I consider them as well? I'll use a WDH/Sway system.
Consider a Keystone Bullet Ultralight RLS ( Rear living). We bought a 2014 285RLS new at end of that year and got it for 19,995 with a 34,000 MSRP. It has performed flawlessly! 30 ft long with an 11 ft superslide! Huge rear window and 2 loungers at the rear plus sleep sofa and 4 person dinette in the slide. It can sleep up to 6 people but no wasted space for bunks if you won't need them in a few years. Only weighs 5400 dry, about 6000 as we camp. Tongue weight 600 with an E2 WDH. Tows great with my 2013 Expedition. Your F150 can tow even more than mine. The do not make the 285RLS any more but make a 26 ft RLS that is 28 ft and a few hundred lbs lighter. They are Ultralites but very deluxe interiors and very aerodynamic with a sloping front. wide spread axles for more towing stability! Check them out--try to find a 2017 leftover and save a lot! They want them off their lot before the long winter!
Thanks
