You can argue about needing a 4x4 after you unhook. But while at highway speed, 4x2 appears more stable.
Interesting. I towed for a number of years with our 2006 4x4 Silverado, then more years with our 2005 4x2 Avalanche, now tow with our 2012 4x4 Silverado, and haven't noticed any advantage of the 4x2 over the 4x4 for towing. If anything, I'm once again looking forward to driving in snowy conditions with our current truck locked in 4x4 as there's no question our previous '06 handled far better in slippery conditions than our '05 ever did. My son now has the Av and I know he'll be bitchin' about it this winter. :W
