Not talking about snowy, or muddy conditions. Just highway speeds. Just that at speed, the 4x2 was more stable. I can "feel" the TT much more with the 4x4 than I ever could with the 4x2. Wheelbase is the same, Tires same rating. I don't have sway with either. Both give a worry free driving experience. I can just feel the TT more.
And as I say. JMOP. Of course. It could be the electronic powersteerng on the newer truck.
Not arguing, just saying I haven't noticed a 4x2 to be more stable than a 4x4 while towing. Although I normally tow in 4x2 I have on those occasions when it's been raining really hard switched the truck to 4x4 because doing so does improve stability - can't do that with a 4x2. My current Silverado has a 4x4 Auto mode, meaning it runs in 4x2 but anytime any slip is detected it automatically switches to 4x4, and yes it does make a difference. :B
I'm Sure it does. I was attributing the more stable to the lower center of gravity of the 4x2, and the fact that shocks, springs and stuff isn't streatched out so much. You know shorter with less chance to move. But as I say. It might just be the difference in the steering. Because even after I upgraded the tires. the feel is pretty much the same. Still in all. I have no sway with either. And I do have to say that the 4x4 feels more loose even when not towing. Just not as planted to the road.
Not arguing either. Just having a conversation.
