Ford guy. In reading between the lines there seems to be plenty time to make some decisions. This is what i did and would advise.
Pull into a ford dealership and pick up a brochure on the F250 that has all the specs and options in it. Just about all of what you need/want will be standard. Also if you have any questions like bed height etc, take a measuring stick with you.
In about 8 weeks you can have the exact truck you want including color et all.
So in 2012 I ordered a crew cab short box F250 XLT and added on sprayed in bed liner, side moldings, upfitter switches, and 4.30 differential.
Since i don't need it, I also got 2 wheel drive.
Also take note of the tow rating of the standard diffy as opposed to the 4.30.
Now if you are lucky like I am, the stelership has the best pop corn in town also. :W
