I don't think I'd even use it as a bedding compound, either. I ended up with leaks under the lifeline stantions on a prior sailboat.
Lexel is absolutely outstanding stuff. It's not latex, not silicone. As far as I can tell, it's magic. Applies easily, smooths easily, looks like new after years of sun exposure and weather, still flexible as the day it cured, grips to anything.
