Sorry, but it is NOT the rule, but the exception, in your case. I tow a 10K trailer many times with our Chevrolet 1500, but it is factory built to tow that weight. I went from a 1T to the ½T and do NOT regret it one minute. There are little no load ½T's and then there are ½T's built to work.
