This can happen to *ANY* GVWR Class vehicle...you are describing at to over
the 'RATINGs' and 'LIMITs'
Also, might be sizing and setup of the hitch system
'Half ton' is more common in this type of issue...as since they are at the low
end of capacity for towing...they get over loaded more often.
Add in the level/type of components found on the lower end of TV's are NOT as
capable for towing heavy. Mainly 'P' class tires...AKA Passenger car tires that
has the RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) recommend that 'P' class tires
used on pickups/SUVs must be derated a min of 9% of their weight carry rating
Too many do NOT understand how the OEM/Regulatory Agencies/etc adhere to and
specify all of the 'Ratings' systems.

OBTW, "Weight Police" is a derogatory used by those who didn't like what they
hear...so they put down the advice. There is no 'policing' on any of these
