Home Depot (at least in my area) is really good about returns. I knew a guy that had a contract to repair returned power equipment from HD. A high percentage of it was tagged unrepairable and sold for scrap. He had many tales about what came across his bench, some of it very abused and totally destroyed. HD was taking these back for full credit. Your new Ryobi's shouldn't be a problem.
