If you read the first post you'll get a background on the trannies. The first owner tried speed shifting from starting gear, 2nd to 3rd. All of us as teenagers did that to 2nd in our first cars. The G-56s were both really slow, you had to be really careful shifting. When I was a kid we played a lot of touch football by our own rules, no blocking at the line, instead we had to count three steamboats. The same rule held on shifting the G-56.
On the second, a jobber rebuilt, besides 5th gear, the bearing were howling so loud as to make conversation difficult. When I pull, it was either a 20'TT or a ATV. Those are half ton loads at most. I chalked that up to a poor quality rebuild. When the jobber was notified, he said he was having one facility rebuild and another go over it again. No wonder he was charging $7,000 now.
The third didn't even make it around the block, and I wasn't even driving. Sh** Happens, but Mopar Powertrain canceled the warranty, disowning their product. That may be one of society's problem, no one taking responsibility. Are you sure you want to drive something from them?
