There are two issues, the Mercedes G-56 manual transmission and Mopar's refusal to honor a warranty when the transmission was clearly faulty from the factory. This transmission did not make it around the block.
After the treatment Mopar has given me, there is no way I'm buying another Chrysler product. At my age that's a pretty idle threat, though. But I can warn you about a company that doesn't stand behind their products.
I'm still confused....How many miles did the truck have on it when you purchased it?? You yourself stated tranny was bad when you purchased the truck, (I never would have purchased it in the first place, knowing it had been so badly abused and taken care of)...Yeah, a moot point, so never mind..THEN you purchased a REBUILT tranny from somebody....Who rebuilt the tranny? Who installed the rebuilt tranny? Why should Ram replace OEM when they had nothing to do with the first transmission being toast, or for that matter, the second tranny being toast?
Why would you recommend an Allison. if it's "just a rant" ??? So, you have an 08' that is crap...a 7 yr old truck with a rebuilt tranny and it's Chrysler's fault??? The more you post about this and the more you explain it all, the more it sounds really odd....So, you recommend to EVERYBODY to NEVER buy a Dodge/Ram because of YOUR experience with a G56 manual tranny in a 7 yr old truck that you got second hand, then replaced with a rebuilt tranny and though you would now, never own another Dodge/Ram again, ...why not recommend the 68RFE automatic, or for that matter, why not the medium duty Aisin???
Sorry for your trouble, but sounds to me like you purchased a bad truck, then you purchased a bad tranny and it was installed by someone that didn't know what they were doing, and wouldn't warranty what THEY sold you....Seems you ought to be on a rant about them....I don't care if it's a Dodge, a Chevy or a Ford....sounds like you made a poor decision in buying the truck and a poor decision in purchasing a rebuilt tranny by someone that didn't warranty what they sold....not Chrysler....but it sounds like far more than just a rant......Sell it while you can and buy an older Chevy with a bullet proof Allison..good luck
