So far, this truck never has left me walking. Tranny shops made their living off of minivan trannies. We had a Dodge.
It's too bad Mercedes sold off Chrysler's gear division New Process, renamed New Venture, and then went with their Brazilian made G-56. Part of their mismanagement. That way they could lower the unit costs of the POS G-56.The NV5600 had better ratios ,too.
I have to chuckle about the posters who question how I know how the first owner drove, they've driven too many automatics. First cold morning, there wasn't any 3rd gear synchromesh. It can be pretty frustrating to count three steamboats every shift. You're in 3rd before crossing a intersection. Any quick acceleration out of the question if you want to save the tranny.
This was our first(and the Last) the lease return. She looked pretty good. And we could almost afford her.
I didn't question how you knew why tranny was toast when you purchased it...BUT, if I had "", I might possibly be purchasing a money pit....I'd RAN from wherever it was you purchased it...but you didn't...THEN, when you had the tranny replaced and still had issues, I'd been all over the people that sold and installed the "rebuilt" tranny. seem's to me that THEY are the one's that should be covering the warranty of a rebuilt tranny they sold you and installed in your truck...does that make sense to you?
How do you feel it's Chrysler's fault and you're telling everyone to NOT buy a Dodge...which is ok..because there trucks aren't "Dodge" anymore, but Ram....Didn't want a manual, owned and driven vehicles with manual tranny's on and off since 66'..got tired of shifting gears in town and when towing...
Why would you tell others to not purchase a Ram at all?? why wouldn't you tell them to stay away from the manual, especially when it appears you don't know much about the 68RFE or the Aisin tranny automatic transmissions
