I'd say its what your comfortable with- but checking periodically, if nothing else, verifies there isn't something fundamentally wrong with setup. Also, uneqaul torque isnt adding to the fact, at least on our '01, that it loves to warp rotors.
After initial re-torquing I've never found they needed it, so probably excessive, but still do check. To me its right there with pulling the dip stick, psi in the spare and glancing at all the reservoirs.
After having tires rotated soon as I get home I check, often as not incorrect or all over the map. Its my truck so I check them if someone else has worked on it, and just for knowing before we hit the road with camper on.
Point here is that torque should be rechecked within a few hundred miles of initial mounting. Most shops would check for you.
I just walked out and checked Margarets car, she had tires rotated bout 300 miles ago. Check at 75# all good, then re-torqued to 100#, 3 of the wheels had one lug nut each at about 90#. Thanks for the reminder.
