DOT Age of Tires

Certainly does appear to be 1st week of 2014....unless I'm reading it wrong too. If that is correct, that's not so good

When I got our Maxxis, they were only 6 weeks old when they were installed....

I would call and ask why you received such old tires. Ask for a 20% discount because the tires will age out sooner and you will not tow with aged out tires.
If they refuse then tell them you want to return them.
Meet resistance from them protest your credit card charge.
If the tires are warrantied for 5 years from date of manufacture (without receipt) then you have lost almost 2 years unless you hang on to the receipt for 5 years to prove date of sale.

Their ad says you can return them if you are not satisfied!

Take the tires back and tell them you want tires that are no older than 3 months. If the tire store refuses call and cancel payment from your credit card.

Why send them back. they were stored in a warehouse. So I`m sure there was no UV degradation. I`ve seen this so many times it`s crazy. Good luck finding a warehouse that`s going to give you a newer tire, they want to get rid of the old stock first. As long as it wasn`t sitting in a window in direct sunlight I wouldn`t worry about it!

Nope they are old. Is the ware house air conditioned? Is it heated? Is the air dry inside? Is it humid inside? Just because they were stored inside does not mean they haven't degraded. Tires dry rot from not rolling. Rolling oils them. there were a lot of news stories about this several years ago. About how the "new" 6 year old tires were failing.

IF they want to sell me tires. They will get me NEW tires. My money, my rules. I always tell my tire guy to get me new tires. No more than a month old. He always does. No problem.

Since I replace my TT tires every 3 years anyway it's not that big a problem right?

Now bear in mind, I was buying 5 very expensive tires.. So one purchasing cheaper tires may not have quite so much pull.. But 2014 tires are not acceptable at ANY price.

oct. 15 looks new to me, i think.
