DOT Age of Tires
Just received my Maxxis tires from Discount Tire Direct and the DOT date is DOT 20HB DBC 0114. Doesn't that mean they were manufactured on the first week of 2014? Should I worry about the age of these "new" tires?

- My X was almost a year old when it was purchased "new". It's an 02 built in June of 02, the in service date was June 03! I'm sure the original owner didn't request new tires when they bought it! In fact it had the OE tires when I bought it and they got replaced at 50k miles.
- When I last bought new tires, I was surprised to see they were 8 months old. Ugh.

Why send them back. they were stored in a warehouse. So I`m sure there was no UV degradation. I`ve seen this so many times it`s crazy. Good luck finding a warehouse that`s going to give you a newer tire, they want to get rid of the old stock first. As long as it wasn`t sitting in a window in direct sunlight I wouldn`t worry about it!

I gotta disagree. Rubber starts to degrade from the day it was made.
THe 2014 tires looked, felt, and smelled different than the ones I ended up with.. It is hard to describe, but the newer tires were obviously fresher.- You did get new tires! They were just made early on.
As I said before. Nothing wrong with tires that have been sitting in a warehouse unused, out of the sunlight.
Camp on and and enjoy the NEW tires. - Obviously you meant 14!

Now bear in mind, I was buying 5 very expensive tires.. So one purchasing cheaper tires may not have quite so much pull.. But 2014 tires are not acceptable at ANY price.

Plus, did you check the date on your currency? I doubt it was "new". lol
