It was an easy install and I figure it has to help retain heat in the winter (heat rises after all), cut down on condensation, and cut down on heating by the sun in the summer.
That is what I was wondering, so I guess you are happy with the install and worth the cash.
If the fan assy was below the top a person could just install a flat piece of clear plastic in the lid but that is not going to work.
Another way would be to replace the inside corner screws with snaps and install a cover with those attachments. And one knob does extend down slightly below the ceiling line.
