I used to make frequent business trips to Atlanta that would be 1-3 weeks long. I always took my camper and stayed in one of the COE parks around Lake Allatoona, the KOA that used to be in Kennesaw, or Brookwood RV Park in Marietta. I always took the camper off then so I could commute to work every day. Nobody minded, and it worked great for me.
Since then, it’s pretty rare but I have done it recently in Acadia NP in Maine. Some of the old stone arched bridges in the park are pretty low clearance, so we took the camper off there. So in short, I do it when it’s needed.

I guess old dogs CAN learn new tricks when necessary! :W
