We lock our Cummins in 2nd or 3rd gear, activate the exhaust brake, and we're good-to-go. Keep the Cummins between 2 - 2.5k, which is the sweet spot for maximum exhaust braking on the downgrades, and good, responsive power delivery on the upgrades. Rarely needed the brakes. To each their own.
