I am not accusing the Ram gauges as lying but rather as the designer deciding OK I want to keep this simple. The pertinent information while pulling hard is boost pressure I don't want the back pressure (engine braking) being displayed now only boost otherwise the driver is going to be confused. Then when the engine is braking saying the opposite ... the pertinent information is the engine braking .... let's only display the pertinent information.
Unless they have a BOV or some other way they are releasing pressure on the compressor side to keep drive pressure low. But I do get your point, there has to be an increase in boost due to closing the VGT and increasing air flow over the turbine.
