Downsizing TT any helpful hints on storage.

I just purchased a 18ft Palomino Palomini 150RBS. I'm use to a 30ft TT. So I was wondering if anyone had any helpful hints on storage or any other tips on surviving traveling in a small trailer. Thanks
  • Every single item you take from the 30', if you didn't use it at least once last season - and that's being generous - stow it at home or even donate. We hauled around a Dutch Oven for several years until we realized we only used it once in the fall. I always know what our meals are going to be and we can just grab it if we need it. Had 5 tablecloths that migrated into our ROO....have no idea why when 1 will do nicely. We weren't downsizing, rather going from the ROO 23SS to our Rockwood 2604, but it is definitely on Weight Watchers. We can pack clothes for 1 week with no problem....that's what laundry facilities are for. Minimize. I do hate to admit that I have a handful of things that were gifts and I just cannot unload them even though they've never been used...at least they're very lightweight. I'm also a believer in Rubbermaid type containers....they make life easier and neater. Good luck in your new trailer....there is a certain peace in a smaller environment.

x2 - This was my first thought as I started reading the thread.
  • In our Koala, we changed the closet from a closet with hanging rod to having just shelves. We usually have just have jeans t-shirts sweatshirts etc, so no need to hang anything. Can also put our shoes in the closet now. Added shelves in the linen closet and pantry too. Increased storage there. Got a double footstool that has storage Great for coats and blankets. You can also maybe add a rod in the shower to store things when not using it as a shower. I also have nice decorative hooks on the walls (using command attachments) for hats, keys, jackets, etc. All cupboards are packed tight. If it hasn't been used in a year, it gets the boot. I make menus for meals, as I like to precook, and take what we need. Stacking tubbies are great for underbed storage. One thing you will find with a smaller trailer is that everything needs to be put back in place. It gets very cluttered very quickly.
