I haven't had it cleaned but came close. When we were in NM we had a hose blow off the turbo. The truck was towed into a diesel service place but not a Ford dealer. The nearest Ford place was 40 miles away and since this was Saturday they were closed. Well the hose was finally replaced on Monday and when we started down the road we got a DPF cleaning warning then a limp mode warning. Went back to the service center and they didn't know what to do, but suggested a DPF cleaning but since these people were not used to working on 6.7L engines I instead opted to try for the Ford dealer.
Most of the trip the truck was in DPF cleaning, it would complete one cycle wait a couple minutes and start another. Got limp mode warnings but I never went into limp mode. Just about 5 minutes from the Ford place the truck finished the final cleaning and didn't do any more. It was just as well by the time we got there the Ford service dept. was closed.
I haven't seen any problems since then.
