I guess I should have worded my last post differently. The older Cummins made more power at highway cruising speeds making it feel like it was just loafing along.

I don't know how old your talking about but my 2006 Duramax put out 198 HP at 1600 RPM and the same year Cummins puts out 185 HP at the same RPM.
The 2004 Dmax put out 158 HP at 1600 RPM and same year Cummins put out 122 HP at that RPM.
The 2002 Dmax puts out 152 HP at 1600 RPM and the same year High Output Cummins put out 153 HP at the same RPM.
As you can see, most years the Dmax beats the Cummins at low RPM power or is very close.
