Draining fresh water without removing camper from truck.

Its not going to bother your fiberglass camper. I had a northern lite and drained it into the truck bed all the time.

This was my simple mod to drain the WH neatly and away from the truck ....

My camper is sitting on 2" timbers so there is space under it. I just let the water drain into the bed, no different from having your truck out in the rain. If you have a bed liner you may have to park on a slope to drain it.

If you don't have a bed liner, the bed drains pretty quickly - quicker than the typical tiny little water tank drain valve will source. Yes it may get the bottom of your camper wet, but that's gonna happen anyway unless you park under a freeway overpass anytime it rains.

Thanks for all of your replies. Our fresh water tank drain lines are located on the front driver's side of the camper. Sure wish the drain lines were run to the rear of the camper as I do not want to flood the truck bed with water then have this water freeze somewhere in the truck bed. We dumped both holding tanks just before we got home yesterday. I am thinking, for now, I might just run the water pump to put the fresh water into the gray tank and then just dump the gray tank on the ground. Then I will empty the hot water tank and then hopefully blow air through the city water inlet to blow out the lines. I will add RV anti-freeze after that. Does that all sound about right? We have been camping for years, but this is the first camper we have had that has all of the amenities. I have a lot of learning to do! Are the low point drains also within the bed area? Opening a low point drain and turning on the pump will also create the same effect as turning on the outside shower with the head off.

The underside of the floor of my Palomino is unpainted OSB, and the drain is right at the front of the camper, so draining with the camper in the truck is pretty much a recipe for a ruined camper.

What I do is take the head off the shower and pump the water into 5 gallon buckets to drain the fresh tank. After a trip, that's no more than about 1-1/2 buckets, and takes about 5 minutes.

The little bit of water in the tank is not enough to cause problems if left to freeze, but I do generally dump the last little bit after I unload the camper for the winter.

My fresh water drain is located past the end of my 8' truck box to facilitate TC in-box water draining. Did you check where your drain point is?

Draining the water tank isnt really what you should be concerned about. You should be concerned with blowing out the water lines and getting some antifreeze in the pump. If the tank is full it probably wont freeze in a night or two. I'd just elevate the front of the truck and open the drain.
