There may be some electrical differences between the two sides. If the driver's side is getting a lot of current and the passenger's side less, the brakes will activate more on the driver's side.
What's puzzling is the metal flake in the grease. That shows extreme wear, or failure. Is it possible that you have an axle alignment issue?
