driver side brakes heating up way more than pass side

X2 exactly. Drive with brakes disconnected to focus on electrical problem or not. Of course it still could be a mechanical problem inside, like magnet dragging/clearance problem inside.
The fact that metal shavings were found means metal to metal contact somewhere. Keep us posted.
