Bid-Time,
snide remarks are not appreciated. By the way I can drive in any weather CA can dish out.
You've been a member for 10 years. So I would surmise you have seen a lot of TT's. When was the last time you saw a TT that didn't have propane tanks mounted right on the very front tongue, within 3-feet of the tow vehicle.
Sorry if my remark sounded "snide", but when you make a statement like "My propane tanks are only about 3 feet from our truck gas tank. Is it safe to have propane that close to the gas tank?", you got to wonder if it's all a joke, you just wasn't thinking before you typed, or what. Just about every TT has the propane tanks within 3-feet, and they have been like that for about 40 years or more. So I guess it must be safe.
I think he meant having the burner close to the gas tank.
I run my TT with the fridge on gas. It is a 2 way dometic. It is only a few years old. It is a piece of $#!+. Doesn't cool well on gas, and on our last trip home in 114* temps, the thermal fuse popped. The burner must have gotten too hot as maybe the air pressure reduced the airflow and made it run too hot? I had to replace my roof vent with a replacement Camco cover. Does this flow less than a Stock Dometic?
Anyhoo, I'm replacing it with a nearly new Norcold 641.3 3 way that I bought for my motorhome but only used once before I decided to sell that coach. Much better unit. Cools, better. It actually has a temperature control knob, not that stupid sensor that always falls off the fin, and probably made it run too long (lower is colder) and I can run it on 12V so long as I increase the wire gauge to the fridge...
