I drove an F350 for a daily driver for about 4 years as well as using it to haul my 39' 5th wheel.
- OP says not to consider weight, but if one only has an SRW, that does act to limit the upgrade potential on the trailer.
- The "hips" aren't an issue except in a few drive-ins. I found the 8'bed on back of the crew cab was the primary cause of problems maneuvering: if I could shoehorn that length in somewhere, then the "hips" weren't an issue.
- Air: There are any number of cheap add-ons that allow the inner valve stem to be extended to the outside. $50 and a couple of hours work in an afternoon and problem solved.
- Rotating: I'm lazy. I have a tire shop rotate my tires. When I had the dually, it cost and extra $25 and I always had to draw very specific diagram of the rotation to be done. Not a big deal.
- Mileage: When we had the dually, the household had a Prius and the F350. Fleet average was pretty good. IMNSHO, one puts too much consideration on mileage if the truck will be used for towing and if the truck is being considered as the "base" for future trailer upgrades
