OP,
Here's the thing, I drive a DRW truck as my DD (company truck) and it's because what I do I have to have the capacity. Yes, you get use to driving it and except the things that come with it. I drive roughly 20-30,000 miles a year in it. When I'm in it I pay no attention to the disadvantages of it because I can't do without it. Now, when I get home, it's parked. Not because I am not allowed to use it for personal use. It's because my person trucks are much easier to get around in. When I do park, I don't have to worry if I'm obstructing other parking spots or making it very hard for someone to get into their car when parking next to someone. No, I don't have a problem finding spots or even getting into them but I do care if I am making things hard for others. Drive-thru windows are another thing. People say that if their mirrors fit so will the fenders. I don't know how many drive-thru's around here have guard posts protecting the windows but there are a lot of them. My mirrors will go right over top of them. If I had fenders , they wouldn't go through.
If you want to buy a DRW truck because you just want to, or for an ego thing then that is your right have at it. You will get use to it and drive it around no problems at all. Heck, I go to Wal-mart and places like that with my fith wheel with the boat behind that and don't have any troubles. It's all in what you want and what you want to put up with. That is one thing they haven't taken from us ....yet. Choice.
