DRW regrets?

We are very happy with our dually. So much so we just bought another one. But this one is a little longer because we wanted a crew cab.
It's a 2015 f350 6.7 psd cc lb Drw 4x4
Would this be our chosen vehicle to go Christmas shopping at the mall or serious off roading? Of course not! Don't be silly, that's why we have other vehicles. But for towing and hauling it is hands down the best choice for us.

I went with 1998 Dodge 12V diesel 3/4 ton (single wheel) and put a Fleetwood Caribou, air bags and upgraded suspension and tires on it. I think I was pushing it at times, but the amount of time with no camper and single wheels was best for my situation. If the camper was going to be on all the time, it may have worked out differently for us. Of course the camper has been sold and is still in great condition and there was something special about the set-up on my Dodge as I sold it to a guy from Maine who converted it to biodiesel. Flew out here off of pictures and a pretty reasonable deal. Single wheels gets me through the drive in at "In-N-Out" when the camper wasn't on! Good luck!

My SRW Ford and DRW Ram are not daily drivers, but the Ford was the biggest truck that would fit in city parking garages due to ceiling height and spot size. Luckily public transit takes me to and from work and occasions where I need to go elsewhere can be done with a VW or motorcycle.

The parking spots where I work are very narrow and the DRW just fits between the lines, so I park in the "back 40" away from everyone else, but it doesn't help.

Even though there are hundreds of closer, better spaces, when I come out at the end of the day people are parked all around me.

DB, we had a 94 Caddy DTS and we called her BAB>>>Big Arse Bertha, always made me smile...but it was a fine car with the 300hp NStar...cruises across MT at over 100 steady...walk in the park...enuf of that...this is a TC form and wouldn't want some folks jumping my bad ass for talking about bad ass luxury cars...opps! Smile!

I just put the AF811 on it the first time today. The short bed Arctic Fox now sits farther forward on the bed than it did on my short bed F250, but just slightly back compared to the long bed version due to the generator header pipe. The front jacks interfere with access to the lower storage compartments, but these will become over sized battery boxes in the future.

I haven't driven the loaded 5500 enough yet for feedback, but with no suspension aids it squats about 2" in the rear and still has a 1" before the overloads kick in. I think that once everything is loaded in the TC and the trailer is attached, the overloads will touch the pads. As long as the truck stays close to level, I will not install my StableLoads. The 6.7 with 6-speed definitely has more power than my 6.0 with 5-speed. I'm still getting used to the Cummins I6 torque and horsepower peaks at 500 RPM less than the PowerStroke V8.

We're planning on keeping the Arctic Fox for up to five more years before getting something larger. The new truck opens up many more choices for us (maybe even a bigger toy trailer).

That will haul AND to to some stuff. It won't even know your 20' BAT is back there..... Are you keeping the AF811?

I don't regret going to a DRW. The dually isn't my daily driver, so it didn't matter that I bought a DRW.

I did drive it a lot during the first month I had it, just to get some break in miles on it, and I didn't mind that it was so phat and long.... but my commute to work was very short and didn't involve freeways and heavy traffic.

When I drive it empty, I always park in the back 40 of a parking lot where there's plenty of space. Actually I do that with all my vehicles, to prevent door dings and shopping cart mayhem.
